Como cada lunes en Wololo Sound, os traemos una nueva entrevista. Esta vez, coincidiendo con la reciente visita a la Ciudad Condal para su show en la Sala Razzmatazz en motivo de su gira ‘The Intimate Tour’, tuvimos la oportunidad de charlar un rato con uno de los DJ’s y productores franceses más conocidos por su característico estilo ‘melodic house’: Klingande. Sin más dilación, os dejamos con la entrevista:
Wololo Sound: Hola, Cédric. Es un placer para nosotros tener la oportunidad de poder entrevistarte. Para la gente que aún no te conozca, ¿cómo te describirías?
Klingande: ¡Hey! El placer es mío. ¿Describirme? Soy un DJ y productor francés, que empezó en 2012 oficialmente con este nombre Klingande, y muchos de vuestros lectores deben al menos haber oído mi canción ‘Jubel’, que salió en 2013/2014.
Wololo Sound: Hi, Cédric. It’s a pleasure to have the opportunity to interview you. To the people that still don’t know much about you, how would you describe yourself?
Klingande: Hey! Pleasure is mine. Describe myself? I’m a French DJ and Producer, started in 2012 officially with this name Klingande, and most of your readers must at least have already heard my song “Jubel” which was released in 2013/14.
WS: Hablemos de tus raíces. Vienes de Francia, ¿cómo es la escena allí? ¿Tuviste alguna que otra dificultad al comienzo de tu carrera como DJ? ¿Te viste ‘obligado’ a abandonar tu país de origen para poder ganarte la vida como DJ y productor?
KG: Si, vengo de Francia, soy de Lille que es una ciudad al norte de Francia, justo al lado de la frontera Belga. La escena aquí es realmente especial, en París tendrás un montón de fiestas, clubes, conciertos con todo tipo de géneros musicales. En el resto de Francia, es todo música urbana o underground. Al principio de mi carrera fui muy afortunado porque cuando lancé ‘Jubel’, se difundió de forma natural en Soundcloud y YouTube, y todos estos blogs y canales lo compartieron. Realmente me abrió todas las puertas y estoy agradecido de que todas estas personas hayan disfrutado y compartido mi música. No diría que me vi obligado a abandonar mi país de origen, pero es cierto que mi música tuvo un mayor éxito primero en Alemania, luego en Italia, en Escandinavia, en EE. UU. y en el resto del mundo. Era más grande que en Francia, así que tuve que moverme y viajar mucho.
WS: Let’s talk about your roots. You come from France, how is the scene there? Did you have any difficulties at the beginning of your DJ career? Were you ‘forced’ to leave your home country in order to make a living as a DJ/producer?
KG: Yes I come from France, I’m from Lille which is a city in north of France right next to Belgian border. The scene here is really special, in Paris you’ll have a lot of parties, clubs, concerts with all genre of music. In the rest of France, it’s all about urban music or underground. At the beginning of my career I was very lucky because when I dropped “Jubel”, it spread naturally everywhere on Soundcloud and YouTube and all these blogs and channels shared it. It really opened all the doors for me and I’m grateful that all these people loved and shared my music.
I wouldn’t say I was forced to leave my home country, but it’s true that my music had a bigger success in Germany first, then in Italy, in Scandinavia, in US and in the rest of the world. It was bigger out there than in France, so I had to move and travel a lot.

WS: ¿Quiénes son tus influencias musicales?
KG: Tengo muchas influencias, desde Nirvana hasta Coldplay, todas las cosas pop rock, hasta EDM y progressive house como Swedish House Mafia, Avicii y más. Realmente me gustan muchas cosas y realizo mi creatividad con todas estas fuentes de inspiración.
WS: Who are your musical influences?
KG: I have many influences, from Nirvana to Coldplay, all the pop rock things, to EDM and progressive house like Swedish House Mafia, Avicii and more. I really like a lot of things and I fulfill my creativity with all these sources of inspiration.
WS: ¿Qué esperas de este año 2019? ¿Algo que nos puedas contar con antelación?
KG: Este es un año muy difícil para mí, realmente uno grande y mucho trabajo. Estoy trabajando duro para terminar mi primer álbum, con 10 canciones exclusivas exclusivas que realmente me gustan. Es importante para mí no hacer 2 singles y luego hacer un álbum con todo el resto, quiero ofrecer 10 canciones y producciones geniales a las personas que me siguen y escuchan mi música desde hace 5 años. También estoy construyendo un nuevo espectáculo y un nuevo enfoque de gira, que comenzó con mi gira íntima y continuará en noviembre con shows de conciertos más que shows de DJ. ¡Todo esto es mucho trabajo pero también emoción!
WS: What do you expect from this 2019? Anything you can tell us in advance?
KG: That’s a very tough year for me, really a big one and a lot of work. I’m working hard to finish my very first album, with 10 exclusive brand-new songs that I really like. It’s important for me to not do 2 singles and then do an album with all the rest, I want to offer 10 great songs and productions to the people who are following me and listening to my music for 5 years now. I’m also building a new show and a new tour approach, which started with my intimate tour and will continue in November with concert shows more than DJ shows. All this is a lot of work but also excitement!
WS: La música house está teniendo un increíble aumento de popularidad entre el público general, que se está introduciendo en los escenarios de todo el mundo. ¿Cuál crees que es la razón de este fenómeno?
KG: Creo que el House está volviendo tan fuerte porque está en todas partes en todos los géneros, desde la música pop, a la urbana, y muchos más. La música house y todos sus derivados inspiraron a muchos productores y artistas pop. También es un género muy feliz y una música de ‘buen rollo’ y creo que el mundo lo necesita, la gente quiere paz y felicidad.
WS: House music is having an incredible increase of popularity among the mainstream crowd, breaking into the mainstages around the world. Which do you think is the reason of this phenomena?
KG: I think House music is coming back so strong because it’s everywhere in all genres, from pop music, to urban, and many more. House music and all its derivatives inspired so many producers and pop acts. It’s also a very happy genre and “good vibes” type of music and I think the world needs it, people want peace and happiness.
WS: Como productor, ¿siempre has hecho música house melódica o te has metido con otros géneros? ¿Te sientes cómodo haciendo otro tipo de música?
KG: Como productor me divierto haciendo muchas cosas diferentes. Me encanta aprender nuevas técnicas, nuevos estilos y probar cosas. Puedo hacer más cosas de tendencia underground fácilmente, lo notarás en algunas canciones de mi próximo álbum.
WS: As a producer, have you always made melodic house music or did you mess around with other genres? Do you feel comfortable making any other kind of music?
KG: As a producer I have fun doing a lot of different things. I love to learn new techniques, new styles, and try things. I can do more underground-leaning stuff easily, you will feel it in some songs on my upcoming album.
WS: En casi todos tus temas, siempre usas la armónica como uno de los sonidos principales de las pistas, además de el saxofón para acompañar tus canciones. ¿Hay alguna razón para eso y qué aporta ese sonido al disco?
KG: Hay armónica en solo dos de mis canciones, ‘Riva’ y ‘Ready For Love’; También usé saxofón, violines, muchas guitarras, teclados, por supuesto. Lo que más me gusta es usar instrumentos orgánicos.
WS: In almost all your records you always use a harmonica as one of the main sounds of the tracks, as well as the saxophone. Is there any reason for that and what does that sound bring to the record?
KG: There is Harmonica in only 2 of my songs, ‘Riva’ and ‘Ready For Love’; I also used saxophone, violins, a lot of guitars, keyboards of course. What I love the most is to use organic instruments.
WS: El 27 de septiembre lanzarás tu álbum debut llamado ‘The Album’, ¿qué podemos esperar de este álbum y qué pistas se incluirán en él?
KG: Este álbum estará en 2 partes, la segunda parte será todas las canciones que lancé desde ‘Jubel’ con dos canciones exclusivas de ese período. La primera parte contará con 10 canciones exclusivas de 2019, y “By The River” y “Ready for Love” son los primeros singles de éste. Habrá más lanzamientos individuales hasta finales de septiembre y el lanzamiento del álbum.
WS: On 27th September you are releasing your debut album called ‘The Album’, what can we expect from this album and which tracks will be featured on it?
KG: This album will be in 2 parts, part 2 will be all the songs I released since “Jubel” with 2 exclusive songs from that period. Part 1 will be 10 exclusive songs from 2019, and “By The River” and “Ready for Love” are the first singles out of it. There will be more single releases until end of September and the album release.
WS: Tu nuevo single llamado ‘Ready For Love’ fue lanzado hace aproximadamente un mes, ¿cuál ha sido la recepción o la reacción de tus fans hasta ahora?
KG: Creo que fue genial, hice esta canción para tocarla en vivo y el resultado es enorme cuando la toco!! Tenemos grandes apoyos y a la gente le encantó. ¡Espero que continúe propagándose y que haga feliz a la gente!
WS: Your brand new single called ‘Ready For Love’ was released about a month ago, which has been the reception or the reaction of your fans to it so far?
KG: I think it was great, I made this song to play it live and the result is huge when I play it!! We have great supports on it and people loved it. I hope it will continue to spread and make people happy!
WS: ¿Cómo ha sido hasta ahora tu gira por Estados Unidos y Europa llamada ‘The Intimate Tour’? ¿Algún recuerdo o anécdota que quieras compartir con nosotros?
KG: La gira fue realmente genial!! Hicimos sold out en Nueva York, San Francisco, Los Ángeles, Londres, París, Bruselas, Ámsterdam… Me encantó porque eran lugares pequeños, podía conectar con los fans, pasar tiempo con ellos, verlos sonreír, bailar, disfrutar… ¡Sienta realmente bien sentir el calor de la sala y ver a la gente divirtiéndose!
WS: How’s been so far your US and European Tour called ‘The Intimate Tour’? Any highlight or memory about it that you want share with us?
KG: This tour was really great!! It was sold out in New York, San Francisco, Los Angeles, London, Paris, Brussels, Amsterdam… I loved it because it was small venues, I could connect with the fans, spend time with them, see them smile, dance, enjoy… It feels really good to feel the heat of the room, and to see people having fun!
