Entrevistamos a KSHMR, uno de los artistas más importantes de la escena mainstream
Hoy comienza la sexta temporada de Wololo Sound y con ello un montón de novedades y por supuesto, nuevas entrevistas. Nuestro primer invitado de esta nueva temporada es, ni más ni menos, que uno de los artistas más importantes de la escena mainstream. KSHMR no necesita presentación, desde hace un lustro el productor norteamericano ha sido artífice de algunos de los grandes temas del “EDM” como pueden ser ‘Secrets’, ‘Power’ o ‘Toca’ hasta llegar a ser considerado uno de los artistas más populares como demuestra su 18º posición en el Top 100 de la DJ Mag. Sin más dilación, ¡os dejamos con nuestra entrevista a KSHMR!
Entrevista a KSHMR:
Wololo Sound: Hola Niles, lo primero de todo, gracias por estar aquí con nosotros. En tus últimas produciones pudimos escuchar influencias del hard, psy-trance… y luego otras canciones más propias de ser escuchadas en la radio. ¿Qué podemos esperar de tu música durante los próximos meses?
KSHMR: Lo que me inspira en cualquier momento es normalmente en lo que confío. Realmente empiezo con la melodía y luego intento hacerlo lo mejor posible basándome en la melodía. Entonces, si acaba siendo una canción rápida hago algo de psy-trance o hardstyle y si es una canción más lenta luego hago algo pop como ‘My Best Life’ porque para mi eso sigue sigendo una gran canción y seguirá siendo un tema de KSHMR por el mensaje que hay en él.
Wololo Sound: Hello Niles, first of all thank you for being with us! In your latest productions we are able to hear some influences from hard, psy trance… and other songs more likely to be played on the radio. What can we expect about your music during the following months?
KSHMR: What inspires me at any given time is usually what I presume. It really starts with the melody and then I try to make the best possible song based on the melody so if it ends up being a faster song maybe I go psy trance and hardstyle and if its a slower song then I do something pop like ‘My Best Life’ because for me that was still a great song, it will be still a KSHMR song because of the message in it. So I think just do really whatever my heart takes me and I love hard and psy and I’ll do both and pop too.
Wololo Sound: ¿Qué subgéneros de la música electrónica crees que serán más populares en un par de años?
KSHMR: Parece que será la música pop. Sí, parece que será algo pop. Creo que para los shows en directo el hardstyle y el psy-trance son los los que generan mejor reacciones pero creo que parece que para los nuevos productores la música pop es la que les está dando más éxito. Algo con una vocal que está más hecho para Spotify y cosas así.
Wololo Sound: What subgenres do you think will be more popular in a few years?
KSHMR: It seems like pop music. It seems like pop. I think that for the live show hardstyle and psytrance bare for me what get the best reaction but I think it seems like for new producers pop music is giving them the best success. Something with a vocal that is more for Spotify and thinks like that.
Wololo Sound: ¿De qué manera ha influido en tus producciones la música tradicional oriental?
KSHMR: Al principio no sabía como la gente iba reaccionar al hecho de que usara música india. Fueron canciones como ‘Jammu’ las que me hicieron famoso y me pense: “Wow, la gente le gusta escuchar esto de mí”. A partir de ahí estuve muy inspirado y empecé a hacer canciones como ‘Bazaar’ o ‘Mandala’ y automáticamente eso dió forma a como soy como artista. Mi nombre es KSHMR por supuesto, pero ahora creo que realmente el sonido indio es parte de lo que soy. Fue duro para mi porque no había realmente referencias en como transformar el sonido indio en música electrónica. Tuve que aprender mucho en el proceso pero ahora ya lo he aprendido.
Wololo Sound: What way traditional oriental music influenced your productions?
KSHMR: For me, at first I didn’t know how people will react to using Indian music. It was songs like ‘Jammu’ that became popular for me and I realized “wow people actually they like to hear from me”. So from there I was really inspired and started to do songs like ‘Bazaar’ or ‘Mandala’ and automatically I think that shaped really who I am as an artist. My name is KSHMR of course, but now I think really musically the Indian sound its part of who I am. And it was hard to do because there was not really sort of reference for how to make Indian sound into dance music. I had to learn a lot in the process but now I have learned a lot.
Wololo Sound: ¿Cuál es, de todas las canciones que has producido, de la que más orgulloso te sientes?
KSHMR: Creo que sería ‘Jammu’ por el video, también porque el vídeo fue idea míaa y el mensaje y la historia es una de las cosas más importantes que he producido y tiene un mensaje profundo. Es por eso que prefiero esa canción.
Wololo Sound: What is, from all the songs you’ve produced, the one you are the most proud of? Why?
KSHMR: I think it would be ‘Jammu’ because of the video. It was my idea and the message and the plot of the video is one of the most important things made by me. It has a deep message and that’s why I prefer this song
Wololo Sound: Acabas de pinchar en el Dancefloor en Braga (Portugal). Muchos de tus fans han venido a Portugal a verte. ¿Tienes alguna fecha en el futuro en España?
KSHMR: Me encantaría decir que iré pronto a España pero no lo sé. Me encanta España y también me da la oportunidad de hablar español. Espero con ansias volver pronto.
Wololo Sound: You’ve just played at Dancefloor in Braga. Many of your Spanish fans have come to see you. Do you have any future dates in Spain?
KSHMR: Oh man, I wish I could say I coming but I don’t know. But I love Spain so much and also give me the oportunity to speak spanish. I really hope to come back soon
Wololo Sound: ¿Qué piensas de nuestra escena electrónica?
KSHMR: Me encanta la energía. Cada vez que he ido la energía es incomparable, me encanta el público de España y la cultura española. También me encanta el fútbol.
Wololo Sound: What do you think about our electronic scene?
KSHMR: I love the energy. Everytime I went to Spain the energy is incomparable. I love spanish crowds and spanish culture. I also love football.
Wololo Sound: En tu sello, Dharma Worldwide, has lanzado algunas canciones producidas por artistas españoles como Distrion. ¿Te gusta algún otro artista español?
KSHMR: Danny Avila, por ejemplo. Es genial y muy talentoso. Me gustaría firmar un tema de el en Dharma. Estamos abiertos a nuevos lanzamientos así que tenéis que mandarme vuestras canciones.
Wololo Sound: In your record label, Dharma Worldwide, you’ve released some tracks produced by Spanish artists such as Distrion. Do you like any other Spanish artists?
KSHMR: Danny Avila, for example, is great and super talented, I would like to had a release from him on Dharma. We are open to new releases so you guys have to send me your songs.
