Londinense, entre los artistas más populares de la electrónica mainstream, tiene un proyecto con Martin Solveig… Wololo Sound os da la oportunidad de conocer un poco más a Jax Jones mediante esta nueva entrevista. El DJ y productor atiende a nuestro medio con motivo del lanzamiento de ‘Snacks’, su álbum debut.

Wololo Sound: ¡Hola, Jax Jones! Es un placer poder hablar poder hablar contigo. Queremos realizar esta serie de preguntas y respuestas para celebrar el lanzamiento de tu reciente álbum: Muchos de los temas que has incluido en él ya habían sido lanzados previamente, ¿puedes contarnos cuándo surgió la idea de este gran proyecto?
Jax Jones: ¡Gracias por invitarme! Los últimos 18 meses han sido un poco como un viaje en montaña rusa. Todo empezó con ‘Housework’ y desde ahí explotó, luego tuve la oportunidad de trabajar con artistas increíbles que admiraba desde hace tiempo, como Bebe Rexha, Jess Glynne, Demi Lovato, Stefflon Don y muchos más. Estoy súper orgulloso del punto en el que estamos ahora con este álbum al completo, ¡ha sido increíble!
Wololo Sound: Hi, Jax Jones! I’m really pleased to have a little chat with you. We wanted to conduct this Q&A with you to celebrate the release of your debut album: A lot of the tracks on it had already been released before, so can you tell us how did this whole project start?
Jax Jones: Thanks a lot for having me! It’s been quite a journey! The past 18 months have been a rollercoaster ride. It all started with ‘Housework’ and kind of exploded from there. I then had the opportuntiy to work with some incredible artists which I have admired for a long time – Bebe Rexha, Jess Glynne, Demi Lovato, Stefflon Don and many more. I’m super proud of where we are now with a full album. It’s been amazing!
WS: Uno de los temas del LP es de tu nuevo proyecto Europa en colaboración con Martin Solveig. Comenzasteis a trabajar bajo este alias recientemente lanzando música e incluso dando alguna actuación. ¿Cómo os sentís ambos por el nuevo concepto que habéis creado? Incluso Axwell remezcló vuestro primer tema, así que imagino que habrá recibido un gran apoyo.
JJ: El proyecto Europa nació de manera muy natural. Conocí a Martin en Ibiza y me invitó a su estudio. Simplemente conectamos, es algo que pasa con algunas personas en concreto. Ambos pensamos que Europa es algo divertido en lo que no queremos poner demasiada presión. Mucha gente nos pregunta constantemente cuándo sacaremos nuestro segundo tema, pero es complicado de responder. Lo lanzaremos cuando sea el momento adecuado.
WS: One of the tracks of the album is your new project Europa together with Martin Solveig. You recently started this new alias, putting out music and performing a few shows. How are you both feeling with this new concept? Axwell also remixed your first Europa track, so I guess that it has been receiving great support.
JJ: The Europa project happened very naturally. I met Martin on Ibiza and he invited me to come over to his studio. We just clicked, you have that sometimes with certain people. We both see Europa as something fun and we don’t put too much pressure on it. People ask us all the time when we will bring out a second track, but that’s hard to say. It will come soon when the time is right.
WS: Vamos a retroceder un poco en el tiempo ahora. Tu carrera cogió un gran impulso cuando firmaste algunos temas en el sello de Duke Dumont y colaboraste con él. ¿Cómo ha cambiado tu vida desde entonces?
JJ: Me llevó un tiempo llegar hasta donde estoy ahora. En mis inicios solía tocar el bajo en una banda antes de sumergirme en la música electrónica. Ha habido algunos momentos decisivos en mi carrera y trabajar con Duke Dumont y su sello ha sido uno de los más importantes, por supuesto. Estoy muy agradecido por su temprano apoyo, ya que me abrió muchas puertas.
WS: Okay, let’s go back in time now. Your career boosted when you signed some tracks with Duke Dumont’s label and also worked with him. How has your life changed since then?
JJ: It took some time to get where we are right now. In the early days, I was more into playing bass in a band before I really dived into the world of electronic music. There has been a few defining moments in my career and releasing with Duke Domont’s label was one of them for sure. I’m grateful I had their support early on. It opened a lot of doors for me.
WS: Y algo más tarde lanzaste grandes éxitos como ‘You Don’t Know Me’ y ‘Breathe’. ¿Crees que son una de las principales razones para ser un artista tan popular en la escena electrónica a día de hoy?
JJ: Es difícil decir si esa es la principal razón, pero siento que esos temas conectan muy bien con la comunidad EDM. Es una comunidad increíble con unos fans muy apasionados.
WS: And some time later you released big hits like ‘You Don’t Know Me’ and ‘Breathe’. Do you think that they are some of the main reasons for you to be such a popular artist in the EDM scene?
JJ: It’s hard to say if that was the main reason, but I do feel those tracks connect really well the EDM community. It’s an incredible community to be a part of and the fans are super passionate.
WS: Para terminar, queremos preguntarte si nos puedes desvelar tus planes para un futuro cercano.
JJ: ¡Por supuesto! En marzo de 2020 estaré de gira por Europa para celebrar que ‘Snacks’ ha llegado al Top 5 de álbumes debut en el Reino Unido. Para ello, me llevaré la experiencia de carnaval de Jax Jones al completo: los bailarines, hinchables, pirotecnia y los temazos. Es la primera vez en la historia que llevamos este show por Europa y tenemos muchas ganas de estar de fiesta con todos vosotros. Bruselas, Ámsterdam, París, Estocolmo y Colonia, ¡voy a por vosotros!
WS: To wrap up, we want to know if you already have more plans for the near future.
JJ: Definitely! In March 2020, I will be heading on a Europe tour to celebrate ‘Snacks’ hitting Top 5 five debut albums in the UK. You know how I do it, I’m bringing you the full Jax Jonescarnival experience, the dancers, the inflatables, the pyros, and, of course, the bangers. This is the first time we’ve EVER brought this show to Europe and I can’t wait to party with you all. It’s gonna be lit! Brussels, Amsterdam, Paris, Berlin, Stockholm and Colonge – I’m coming for you!
