Wololo Sound – ¡Hola chicos! En primer lugar, muchas gracias por atender a Wololo Sound en esta entrevista. El 2022 está visto para sentencia y creemos que ha sido un gran año para vosotros. ¿Cómo lo habéis vivido?
Solardo – ¡Gracias por pensar en nosotros! ¡Este año ha sido increíble! Hacía mucho tiempo que no podíamos viajar y hacer shows como los que hemos hecho este año. Empezamos el año en México, lo que fue increíblemente divertido, y a partir de ahí apenas hemos parado. Hemos podido pinchar por todo el mundo y, por supuesto, tuvimos nuestra residencia en Ushuaïa Ibiza, un sueño hecho realidad. Definitivamente ha sido el más agotador que hemos tenido, pero todo ha valido la pena.
Wololo Sound – Hi guys! First of all, thank you very much for giving Wololo Sound the opportunity to do this interview. 2022 is almost over and it seemed to be a great year for you guys. How have you experienced it?
Solardo – Thank you for thinking of us!
This year has been amazing! It’s been a long time since we’ve been able to travel and do shows like the ones we’ve done this year. We started the year in Mexico which was incredibly fun, and from there we barely stopped. We got to play all around the world and of course had our Ushuaïa Ibiza residency which was a dream come true. It’s definitely been the most exhausting we’ve ever had, but it’s all worth it.
WS – ¿Creéis de hecho, que estáis en vuestro mejor momento?
Solardo – Ohh esta es una pregunta difícil, han pasado tantas cosas que no creo que podamos elegir sólo una. Ushuaïa Ibiza ha sido sin duda especial para nosotros, pero también el hecho de volver a ver al público y la reacción de la gente ante nuestros temas. Verles disfrutar con nuestra música en directo en diferentes lugares ha sido increíble.
WS – In fact, do you think that you are in your best moment?
Solardo – Ohh that’s a tough one, there’s been so much going on that I don’t think we could choose only one. Ushuaïa Ibiza has definitely been a special one for us, but also just seeing crowds again, and how people are reacting to our tracks. Seeing them enjoy our music live in different venues has been amazing!
WS – Este verano habéis tenido residencia propia en Ushuaïa Ibiza. En España a veces se dice que no eres un dj de reconocimiento hasta que tienes tu propio evento en Ibiza, y vosotros lo habéis tenido en una de las mejores plazas. ¿Qué ha significado este hecho para vosotros y cómo habéis vivido el verano?
Solardo – Como decíamos, no hay palabras para describirlo. Para nosotros, tener la oportunidad de pinchar cada semana con CamelPhat delante del público de Ushuaïa ha sido una de las mejores experiencias hasta ahora. Esta residencia significa mucho para nosotros después de los dos últimos años.
WS – This summer you had your own residency at Ushuaïa Ibiza. In Spain it is sometimes said that you are not a recognized dj until you have your own event in Ibiza, and you have had it in one of the best venues. What has this meant for you and how have you experienced the summer?
Solardo – As we were saying, there are no words to describe it. For us, having the opportunity to play every week with CamelPhat in front of the Ushuaïa crowd has been one of the best experiences so far. This residency really means a lot to us after the past two years.
WS – Musicalmente habéis cambiado bastante en la última década. ¿Cómo ha crecido Solardo? ¿Qué sonido buscáis hoy en día?
Solardo – Desde luego es algo que llega con el tiempo, todos los artistas experimentan con su sonido hasta un punto en el que se identifican con él. Queremos que nuestro sonido haga que la gente sienta algo único cuando lo escuche.
A medida que nosotros mismos crecemos y evolucionamos, también lo hace nuestra música. Ahora mismo sentimos que los fans están disfrutando de esta evolución y tenemos muchas ganas de compartir más temas con ellos.
WS – Musically speaking, you have changed quite a bit over the last decade. How has Solardo grown? What sound are you going for today?
Solardo – It’s definitely something that comes with time, all artists experiment with their sound to a point where they are identified by it. We want our sound to make people feel something unique when they listen to it.
As we ourselves grow and evolve, so does our music. Right now we feel like fans are enjoying this evolution and we can’t wait to share more tracks with them!
WS – Vuestro último single es ‘Angel Dust’, a la venta en Tomorrowland Music. ¿Qué nos podéis decir de este lanzamiento y sus influencias?
Solardo – Angel Dust se inspira en The Prodigy y ha estado en proceso de preparación durante un tiempo. Hemos estado probando la canción durante el verano en bolos y festivales para conseguir el sonido adecuado. Ha sido un tema divertido de hacer, ya que hemos estado jugando con él en la gira mientras viajamos hasta que sentimos que estaba listo. Es un tema de ritmo alto y con una bassline muy fuerte.
WS – Your latest single is ‘Angel Dust’, which is out now on Tomorrowland Music. What can you tell us about this release and its influences?
Solardo – Angel Dust is inspired by The Prodigy and has been in the works for a while. We have been testing the track over the summer at gigs and festivals to get the sound right. It has been a fun track to make as we have been playing around with it on tour while travelling until we felt like it was ready. It’s an up-tempo, bassline heavy track.
WS – Tomorrowland Music es uno de los nuevos sellos que más está dando que hablar. ¿Seguiréis ligados a la marca próximamente?
Solardo – Sí, sin duda han llegado con fuerza lanzando mucha música este año con artistas de primera categoría. Nos gustó mucho trabajar con ellos y ha sido una gran experiencia que definitivamente esperamos renovar en el futuro.
WS – Tomorrowland Music is one of the most talked-about new labels. Will you continue to be linked to this label in the future?
Solardo – Yeah, they’ve definitely come strong releasing a lot of music this year with top artists. We really liked working with them and it has been a great experience that we definitely look forward to possibly renewing in the future.
WS – Y hablando de futuro, ¿Cómo se presenta el 2023 y la próxima temporada veraniega? ¿Alguna exclusiva que nos podáis dar?
Solardo – Sólo podemos decir una cosa… va a ser tan movido como éste, ¡así que estad atentos!
WS – And speaking of the future…How does 2023 and the next summer season look like? Any exclusives you can give us?
Solardo – We can only say one thing… looks just as busy as this one, so stay tuned!

– ¿Palabra favorita en castellano? / – Favourite word in Spanish?
Mark: una mas por favor (although that is not a word) (aunque no es una palabra)
James: No creo que las que me sé sean adecuadas para una entrevista. I don’t think the ones I know are suitable for an interview.
– ¿Un festival en el que actuar todos los veranos de vuestra vida? / – A festival where you would play every summer of your life?
Mark: CreamFields
James: I agree. Estoy de acuerdo
– ¿El mejor club de España o en el que más habéis disfrutado? / – The best club in Spain or the one you have enjoyed the most?
Mark: Sin duda alguna, Ushuaïa Ibiza! – Ushuaïa Ibiza definitely !
James: Hemos tenido el placer de pinchar en muchos buenos clubes de España. ¡Este año tuvimos una noche salvaje en un club llamado Momart en Cádiz, también BCM es mi viejo terreno, así que me encanta volver allí para pinchar y, obviamente, Ibiza en general siempre será un punto culminante para mí!
So many good clubs in Spain we have had the pleasure to play at.. This year I had a wild night in a club called Momart in Cadiz, also BCM is my old stomping ground so I love going back there to play a set and obviously Ibiza in general will always be a highlight for me!
