Él es una de las mayores joyas de Rough Recruits, el subsello de Roughstate, y lleva un año en constante crecimiento en la escena hard: su nuevo liveact y EP ‘Electronic Exuberance’, su collab con Ran-D y su debut en el BLUE Stage en Defqon.1 son algunos de sus highlights. Hemos charlado con él sobre estos y otros temas, acompáñanos para conocer un poco mejor a Invector

Si eres un asiduo lector a nuestros artículos mensuales Sounds of Hard, hay un nombre que se ha repetido en varias de las últimas entregas, llegando a ser protagonista de nuestra “recomendación del mes” en un par de ocasiones. Este DJ no es otro que Invector. El joven productor neerlandés, enrolado en Rough Recruits, lleva un año en ascenso meteórico por medio de sus producciones propias, colaboraciones e incluso su liveact, algo ya muy común en el universo hard.
Si tuviéramos que describir su música con un adjetivo, probablemente el que más encajaría es “enérgica”. Con drops de rawstyle de lo más imponentes y kickrolls brutales, en cada track consigue transmitir un aluvión de energía y vitalidad convirtiendo sus sets en algo que sí o sí debes presenciar si Invector está presente en el lineup de un festival, más aún si en él lleva a cabo su show live ‘Electronic Exuberance’.
Hemos tenido la ocasión de charlar con Invector sobre todo lo que está marcando su progresión y lo que está aún por venir.
Wololo Sound – En primer lugar, te queríamos preguntar por tu concepto ‘Electronic Exuberance’. ¿Qué tratas de expresar con él y de qué manera uno de tus sets live es diferente a uno normal?
Invector – El objetivo de ‘Electronic Exuberance’ es crear la experiencia de máxima adrenalina. Con este concepto he querido mostrar mi sonido marca de la casa (que te atrapa y es duro y energético) y poder brindar al público una experiencia única. Durante los sets de ‘Electronic Exuberance’ quiero transmitir aún más energía a los asistentes junto a un show audiovisual épico. Prácticamente no hay parones durante los sets, así que se complica mantener las fuerzas 🙂
Wololo Sound – First of all, we would like to start by asking you about your ‘Electronic Exuberance’ concept. What are you trying to express and in which way it is different to a regular Invector’s set?
Invector – ‘Electronic Exuberance’ stands for creating the experience of maximum adrenaline. With this concept I wanted to launch my new signature sound (hard, catchy and energetic) and deliver an unique experience for the audience. During the ‘Electronic Exuberance’ livesets I wanted to give next level energy for the audience and an epic audiovisual show. There were almost no breaks in the sets, so it was hard to stand still during the sets 🙂
WS – Te queremos preguntar también por la canción que da nombre a este liveact. ¿Cómo refleja ‘Electronic Exuberance’ el concepto del formato live y cuál fue el proceso creativo de esta?
I – Este tema definitivamente tenía que destacar. El proceso creativo me llevo mucho tiempo, siendo sincero. Normalmente tardo en producir lo básico de una canción de 1 a 3 días, esta me llevó 6 meses… Empecé con los acordes, y en base a estos creé la melodía. Escribí unas 30 melodías para esta canción, ¡así que os podéis imaginar que me costó elegir la correcta! Tras eso, contacté con mi amigo Disarray, le conté mi idea e hizo un gran trabajo con las vocales. ¡Tiene mucho talento!
En mi opinión ‘Electronic Exuberance’ es la combinación perfecta entre vibes melódicos y drops duros. La idea tras este track era poder inspirar al público a no rendirse jamás en aquello que quieran. Durante mi vida y mi carrera he tenido bastantes contratiempos, pero al final nunca he tirado la toalla y siempre he dado lo mejor de mí: “ven y echa un vistazo a lo que he creado con esta oportunidad”.
WS – We would like to ask you about the title track of this concept. How does ‘Electronic Exuberance’ reflect this liveact’s concept and what was the creative process of it?
I – This track really needed to stand out. The creative process took a long time to be honest. Normally I produce the basics of a track in 1-3 days, this one took 6 months! I started with writing the chords and based on that the melody. I wrote like 30 melodies for this track, so you can imagine it took some time to chose the right one! After that, I reached out to my friend Disarray and told him my idea. He nailed the vocals, he is very talented!
In my opinion ‘Electronic Exuberance’ is the perfect combination of melodic vibes and hard drops. The idea behind this track was to inspire the audience to never give up on anything you want. During my personal life and my career I had quite some sitbacks, but in the end I never gave up and always gave my best: “come and try to see a glance, of what I’ve created with this chance”.
WS – Otro highlight de tu 2023 es tu colaboración con Ran-D, ‘Intoxicated’. ¿Qué se siente al trabajar con una leyenda como él?
I – Estuvo muy guay estar en el estudio con una de mis leyendas. Desde el primer día me inspiró y me motivó mucho con su música y su camino. Nunca esperaba poder estar en el estudio con él cuando empecé a hacer música. El proceso de hacer ‘Intoxicated’ fue muy divertido, nos reímos mucho y nuestros vibes en el estudio coincidían. Me encanta poner este tema en cada set, funciona muy bien en la pista.
WS – Another highlight of your 2023 is your collab with Ran-D, ‘Intoxicated’. How does it feel to work with a legend like him?
I – It felt really cool to be in the studio with one of my all-time legends. Since day one he inspired and motivated me with his music and his journey. I never expected to be in the studio with him when I started making music. The process of making ‘Intoxicated’ was really fun, we had a lot of laughs and our studio vibe just matched. I love playing the track at every gig, it really works well on the dancefloor.
WS – También tenemos que mencionar tu último tema ‘Overdrive’. ¿Cuándo fue la primera vez que lo pinchaste en directo y cuál fue la reacción de la gente?
I – ‘Overdrive’ fue estrenada en el primer set ‘Electronic Exuberance’ en Intents Festival. Al público le encantó, me acuerdo que todos se volvieron locos con ella. Un dato curioso sobre este tema es que hice 5 versiones diferentes. Cada vez que pensaba que ya estaba acabada, me daba cuenta de que no era lo suficientemente buena (sí, soy muy perfeccionista). Tras muchos re-trabajos ya quedó hecha, justo a tiempo para el deadline del primer show ‘Electronic Exuberance’.
WS – Also we have to mention your latest track, ‘Overdrive’. When was the first time you played it live and what was people’s reaction?
I – ‘Overdrive’ got premiered during the first ‘Electronic Exuberance’ liveshow at Intents Festival. The crowd loved it, I can remember everyone going crazy on it. A fun fact about this track is that I made 5 different versions. Everytime I thought it was done, but then realised it was not good enough yet (yes, I’m a next level perfectionist). After a lot of reworks it was finally done, just on time before the deadline of the first ‘Electronic Exuberance’ liveshow!
WS – Este año hiciste tu debut en solitario en el BLUE Stage de Defqon.1, además del hosting de Roughstate que también se hizo en ese escenario. ¿Qué se siente al pasar del INDIGO al BLUE?
I – Cuando empecé a hacer música tenía un sueño: ¡pinchar en Defqon.1! En 2022 debuté en Defqon.1 en el INDIGO, en el BLUE Stage con Adaro y en una afterparty con Roughstate. Este año tuve la oportunidad de actuar en solitario en el poderoso BLUE Stage y organizar otra afterparty con Roughstate.
Fue una locura, y para ser sincero, un poco irreal; pasar del INDIGO a pinchar en solitario en el BLUE. Antes de la actuación estaba muy nervioso por si conseguiría llenar la zona. Pero al final se llenó completamente. El ambiente era de otro nivel: ¡fue uno de mis mejores shows! La gente gritó mucho con mis temas (incluso los que aún no han salido) y se sabían cada kickroll. Será un recuerdo que nunca olvidaré.
WS – This year you made your solo debut at Defqon.1 BLUE Stage, along with the Roughstate hosting. How does it feel to step from INDIGO Stage to BLUE Stage?
I – When I started making music I had one dream: to play at Defqon.1! In 2022 I had my Defqon.1 debut on the INDIGO, the BLUE Stage with Adaro and the afterparty with Roughstate. This year I had the opportunity to play solo on the mighty BLUE Stage and host another afterparty with Roughstate.
It felt insane, and to be honest a little bit unreal, to go from the INDIGO to a solo set in the BLUE. The period before the set I was really nervous about if I could fill up the area. But in the end, the area was completely filled. The vibe was next level: one of my sickest shows! People screamed a long with my tracks (even unreleased ones) and knew every kickroll. This will be a memory I’ll never forget!
WS – Para finalizar, nos gustaría saber qué está por venir por tu parte. ¿Hay algo que nos puedas contar?
I – En los últimos meses he publicado un montón de música nueva del EP ‘Electronic Exuberance’. Pero ahí no acaba la cosa, todavía hay mucho material nuevo en camino. El último lanzamiento del EP ‘Destination’ con MC Synergy & Elyn está a la vuelta de la esquina y saldrá este mes. También he estrenado dos nuevos temas recientemente: ‘Aim High’ y ‘Dirty Bassline’. Podéis esperar estas dos canciones en un futuro próximo. Estoy trabajando en muchos más temas nuevos ahora mismo y tal vez pronto se vendrá una continuación de una collab que hice recientemente 😉
WS – Finally, we would like to know what’s about to come from you. Is there anything you can tell us?
I – The past months I released a lot of new music with the ‘Electronic Exuberance’ EP. But that’s not where it ends, there’s still a lot of new stuff coming. The final EP release ‘Destination’ with MC Synergy & Elyn is around the corner and will be released this month. I also premiered two new tracks recently: ‘Aim High’ and ‘Dirty Bassline’. You can expect these two tracks in the near future. I’m working on a lot more new tunes right now and perhaps soon a follow up of a collab I recently did 😉
