Thom, de Blasterjaxx, responde a nuestras preguntas
Blasterjaxx saltó a la fama hace seis años, debido en gran parte al “boom” del Big Room, o lo que hasta ese momento llamábamos Electro-House, y que causó un revuelo importante en el gran público. El dúo, compuesto por Thom e Idir, crearon una formación muy solida que ponía patas arriba festival tras festival, y que ha sabido mantener su estilo en los tiempos que corren, donde quizá el Electro no tiene tanto “tirón”.
En Setiembre de 2015, el grupo sufre un serio revés, y es que Idir anuncia su retirada de los escenarios (no así de la producción) por constantes ataques de ansiedad y pánico que le impedían realizar su labor con normalidad. De esto y mucho más, nos habló Thom en el pasado EDP Beach Party (Oporto), cuando muy amablemente contestó a nuestras preguntas, en una breve entrevista que podéis leer a continuación.
– Wololo Sound: Blasterjaxx began his path 6 years ago, and we can deny your climb has been amazing. How was your beginnings and at which moment did you see that you could be one of the best of the world?
– Blasterjaxx: Haha.. The best of the world.. Well thank you so much! It’s just a hobbie, and that’s how we started aswell, we love to make music and try differents sounds over the years, and there was a point that we catched up the sound what it’s called like current big room house music and we got a lot of support.
– Wololo Sound: Blasterjaxx comienza su carrera hace seis años, y no podemos negar que vuestro ascenso ha sido increíble. ¿Como fueron los comienzos? ¿En que momento veis que podéis llegar a ser unos de los mejores DJs del mundo?
– Blasterjaxx: Haha.. De los mejores del mundo, vaya, muchas gracias! Es sólo un hobbie, y así mismo comenzó esto. Nos encantaba hacer música y fuimos probando diferentes sonidos a lo largo de los años, hasta que dimos con un estilo al que se le llamó Big Room House y gracias a él conseguimos mucho support.
– Wololo Sound: Your label, Maxximize, is winning a lot of popularity too. How is to manage your own label? And how do you choose which track is good enough?
– Blasterjaxx: To the first question, we were fortunate to work with Spinnin ‘Records and create a good team. Everyone has their assigned task and we make the label works. This is how they choose between the tracks we receive. We are looking tracks that are not common to hear in other labels, and have some identification that sticking with our label Maxximize
– Wololo Sound: Vuestro sello musical, Maxximize, está ganando mucha popularidad también. ¿Como es dirigir tu propio ‘label’? ¿Como eliges que track es lo suficientemente bueno para salir a través de él?
– Blasterjaxx: A la primera pregunta, tuvimos la suerte de trabajar con Spinnin’ Records y crear un gran equipo en el que todos tienen su tarea asignada y así hacer funcionar el sello. Así es como se eligen entre los tracks que recibimos. También nos fijamos en esos tracks que no son comunes de escuchar en otras labels, y que tengan algo identificativo que peguen con nuestro sello Maxximize
– Wololo Sound: What is your opinion about these new trends like Bass House, Future House, Trap… Is there a chance to see Blasterjaxx producing any of this?
– Blasterjaxx: If there is a possibility? Maybe … But we just do not like it very much. We like the house and prefer to focus on this.
– Wololo Sound: ¿Cual es tu opinión sobre las nuevas tendencias (Bass House, Future House, Trap…)? ¿Existe la posibilidad de ver a Blasterjaxx produciendo algo de esto?
– Blasterjaxx: ¿Si hay una posibilidad? Puede haberla… Aunque realmente no nos acaba de llamar, preferimos centrarnos en el house de momento.
– Wololo Sound: How is Idir now that he is out of the stages? How has changed your way of working?
– Blasterjaxx: It’s different you know, we are not that often together, so when we are together we try to get as much as possible involved into the musical process work on the stage, and developing in the studio.. It’s absolutely different, we are still trying to find a good way for this
– Wololo Sound: ¿Como son las cosas desde que Idir está fuera de los escenarios? ¿Como ha cambiado vuestra manera de trabajar?
– Blasterjaxx: Es diferente, ya sabes. Nosotros estamos poco tiempo juntos y tenemos que aprovecharlo para involucrarnos al máximo en todo el proceso musical, tanto en el stage como en el estudio. Es totalmente diferente, y realmente seguimos intentando una buena manera de sobrellevarlo.
– Wololo Sound: The health problems of your partner show us that the day to day for a DJ is not easy. What do you do to relax and disconnect between shows?
– Blasterjaxx: I try to work out a lot, running, eat healthy… Make sure that I have enough time for myself (wow, that’s a nice song!) So yeah, just listen to you body
– Wololo Sound: Los problemas de salud de tu compañero demuestran que no es fácil el día a día del DJ. ¿Como haces para relajarte y desconectar entre shows?
– Blasterjaxx: Trato de hacer mucho trabajo fuera, running, comer sano… Ten por seguro que no tengo suficiente tiempo para mi, por lo que simplemente trato de escuchar a mi cuerpo
